Many changes have occurred during my lifetime. Some were wonderful, others not so much. However, that’s not the point; it’s more about my ability to accept and thrive in the face of them,

A very positive, up-beat post today, Janice -- one that I responded to immediately. Must be just what I needed. Thanks so much. And, yes, as a child I remember running to the corner market for a 21¢ quart of milk. When I began driving in the 1960s, I remember the service station guy coming to the car window to wait on me and I would say, "Give me a buck's worth." Three gallons. He checked the oil while it was filling...

I was born in 1942 in the Bay Area of California and I can relate to what you wrote. These were much simpler times and I dearly miss some of what made life easier to navigate. I miss the innocence of walking home from school alone, neighbors who cared, girlfriends who were innocent and fun, etc. I'm a resilient woman who has accepted life's challenges and overcome so much, I've started writing my memoir. We wise Elderwomen have much to share now, and it is so needed. Thanks for sharing your experiences; I can so relate.

Hi Taru, Yes, the innocence of it all is sorely missed. Thank you for your post. Although I'm not sure I'd heard the term Elderwomen before, I like it. It has dignity.

Yes, I started using it around 12 years ago after I turned 70 and moved into feeling wiser and wanting to share that wisdom. I also love Native Americans respect for their Elders, which also includes women..

I sure do miss the good old days. Experienced almost everything you described born in 1948.

Hi Kathleen, I know what you mean about missing those old days. Change is good, but there was some simplicity to the old days that is missing.

Congrats on your great grand-daughter being born :) I'm so,so happy for everyone and the family 💕 She's probably a bundle of joy 🥹

Yes, change and the uncertain state of the world is scary, but facing and controlling what you can change is what is keeping me a little more grounded, even though the political and economic climate is worsening; of course it is easier said then practiced

Hi Cecelia, Thanks so much, Focusing on what we control can is wise - also easier said than done sometimes, as you say.

There nothing can be more exciting than a new baby in the family. It is so special. My sister thinks she is too young to be a grandmother at 58. She has no idea the gift she will receive in 5 months. Congratulations on your new gift of joy!

Hi Susan, that is so true, and thank you. We had the gift of living next door to our grandsons for about nine years, and the older one lived with us while he went to college. It made our lives. The older great-granddaughter taught me to giggle and plan again - who would have thought?
