Have you ever felt that way? I hadn’t - there was always hope for the future - a plan in the works - until recently.
My life is good. I am healthy, have a loving family, am financially stable, and have a life purpose. However, the past few weeks were a struggle. My coping methods failed.
My husband’s dementia and death, and living on my own were stressful. Pandemic concerns, ongoing discord in our country, and the Ukraine war added to the stress. Two weeks ago, ten more people were killed for no good reason. But I managed.
The “straw that broke the camel’s back” was the slaughter of 19 elementary school children and two teachers. . . and now the story of law enforcement’s response. I was devastated.
In trying to understand my despair, this explanation from The Elephant Journal website insightful.

Your words hold power. Practice positive daily affirmations until you believe your words.
Detach from any toxic relationships that are draining your energy supplies.
Inner peace missing in action right now. Maybe, I am watching too much television, focusing on how bad things are, or feeling sorry for myself.
I went for a walk in the woods yesterday - it was quiet and peaceful - a chance to identify several reminders.
Issues causing the weariness are things I have little control over, such as politics or the war in Ukraine. However, I can write about climate change and gun control.
Get outside more and allow nature to heal.
Find the positives in situations, and focus on what I can do - now.
Stop watching the news. It adds to the tiredness.
Keep busy with energizing projects - my art, a garden, and cooking.
