Research shows that as we get older, our quality of life - the subjective perception of our well-being, happiness, and contentment with life circumstances - affects how much we enjoy it. How would you rate yours?

I am experiencing a new kind of life. It feels great some days.

I have been a caretaker of elderly people for 28 years. I maybe caring for them a couple of years before they pass away. It is always hard. In February, I lost 3 in 4 days. After that I said no more full time care. I can’t do this ever again. Now when I wake up I am on my own doing what I want to do. If I only knew what to do it would be helpful.

I am learning how to live MY best life. I have never traveled so maybe a few short trips. I love the beach and that could be my first adventure. Short over night trip.

I do not believe I have really considered my life mine. So for others, I think you really do need to care for yourself NOW. Whatever that means. Figure out the most important items on your bucket list and start checking them off.

Hi Susan, that sounds like a wise plan.

I’m living a very good life that I am consistently very grateful for. I belong to an amazing community, have many younger friends, and am fortunate enough to be with my second husband, after my first died in 2011.

What gets in the way of me fully enjoying this is the state of my mind. Which sometimes (especially in the wee small hours) wants to go down incredibly negative, ‘poor me’ routes; or focus on everything which is wrong with the world.

This only leads me to despair, a place which I’ve had enough of in earlier times.

So I get up, use the I Ching or another helpful tool to reset my mind.

Feeling appreciative of what is here right now works for me and allows me to give more to others too.

Good questions, thank you Janice. Btw, the large button in the article took me to a different article.

Hi Jane, Thanks for sharing your plan and for letting me know about the button. I will check it out.

I give thanks every day for family. I feel there are people who have my back - people I could phone at 3 in the morning and they would come right over without question. I am blessed because I am loved. At my age, I only wish my body remained as sound as my mind.... but I don't complain. Thank you for asking, Janice.

Hi Sharron, Boy, do I know that feeling - wishing my body remained as sound as my mind.

Congrats on 4k!!

Life is good. Working on reversing Osteoporosis— next scan is in a couple of weeks and I’ve had tests that ruled out serious health issues with weird symptoms I’m having. Must accept aging. Key words.

Hi, Yes, aging seems to be a fact of life - a life that I am very grateful for. It's good to hear the tests have ruled out serious health issues, and I hope the weird symptoms are figured out soon.
