I want a dog for my own therapy. After seeing the mechanical one it fuels me to take another step to find the right one. My husband says they're work, like having children. At 65 and struggling (sometimes) mentally I can't think of a better way to get out of my head. I loved this week's shorties.

Hi Patti, I'm so glad you are enjoying the stories. Your husband is right - dogs are definitely a lot of work. They can also be a reason for getting up and getting out in the morning. I have two rescue cats and they add so much to my day and life.

That’s great the Ruffie found a new friend!

I sure thought so.

Both of my parents are in the nursing home. My dad with dementia and my mom with a loneliness that is so deep. Maybe that dog would help both of them. I’ve brought in puppets that I have learned are deeply therapeutic and it helps.

Hi Dina, I'm so sorry to read about your parents. I know that at the time, the dog made a difference for Dan. Take care!

My 92-year-old mother keeps saying she wants a dog and she knows that she wouldn’t be able to take of one. I wonder if a mechanical therapy dog would help.

Hi Teri, It certainly was a friend to Dan for a couple months. It barked, moved it's head, and was interactive. I think it cost about $130.00.

Janice ~ I love the stories you share, not because they show your pain -- but because they give me comfort somehow -- even though they are foreshadowing a sad time for my husband or me. I hope you understand what I mean. Thank you! xoxo

Hi Jan, I do think I understand. The stories show a way through, at least that's what I hope they do.

Yes, Janice, they do. Everything you write offers empathy and hope. We love you for it.
