Three Essential Themes to Guide Our Journey

Again, I want to welcome all the new subscribers and thank everyone who takes the time to read my articles. Your support means so much.
The monthly pop-up discussions are an opportunity to explore aging well in greater depth. As we grow older, sharing ideas and information with others becomes increasingly important. It gives us a chance to voice our ideas and concerns.
If you’re reading the newsletter, I assume, like me, you’re interested in staying healthy and enjoying the rest of your life to the fullest. Experience is telling me it’s not as easy as I thought.
Six previous articles focused on the ongoing themes the newsletter addresses: understanding the mind-body connection in later life, defining and protecting our quality of life as we age, and navigating the healthcare system as we age.
So this month's question is this: given those themes, how are you doing with them, and what might you recommend?
My answer is:
I’m paying greater attention to the mind-body connection - listening to and honoring both.
I’m actively saying no to activities I don’t want to participate in and focusing on ones I do - thinking of energy as the new currency and considering how I want to spend it.
I’m preparing for any future medical situations that could occur.
How might you respond?

I’m no longer a licensed therapist, nor am I a medical professional, so don’t offer advice; I only share ideas based on my experience.
Let’s get started, and welcome! Ready?

I want to welcome all the new subscribers - and hope they will enjoy reading the articles and participating in the discussions as much as I enjoy writing them. Every four weeks, it's time for a pop-up discussion - where we talk a bit about issues regarding aging in more depth.
Doris Bauermann offered this approach.
As a senior, we have to acknowledge the limitations of our bodies. Despite all the hype about age-defiance and following the recommendations for a nutritious diet, exercise, and social activities, we are not in our twenties anymore. Just learn to accept the reality and move on, pursuing activities we still can do that bring us joy, peace, and the loving company of others. Laugh and play like there is no tomorrow, and be grateful for each day we still have.
