I really liked this post, Janet - once again, you've made me challenge myself and think forward.

On the scale, I just scrape a pass mark and yet I'm fit, engaged, as independent as one can be when one still has a competent partner who handles the business.

I'm content with life and always want to be occupied in my favourite things and I adore my family and am so very grateful for my small but close group of friends.

However, I do need to work on emotions as was evidenced 6 weeks ago when my son was diagnosed with an extremely rare lung disease for which there is currently no treatment. The prognosis varies from 3 years if the condition worsens to 20+ years if it doesn't. And there's always the option of transplant. (he's 39 with a gorgeous wife and 5 year old son).

I was being super strong for everyone but I was also, I believe, in either denial or an oddly bipolar approach to it all. So I took myself off to my psychologist and we chatted and he steered me back on track with extended meditation and mindfulness. This is very much a must in my health regime and will be with me until I am no more. I just need to do it twice a day, not once.

In its own way, because it is Buddhist based, it has its own degree of spirituality. Part of the process is Loving Kindness and that's my commitment to a spiritual way of life.

Thank you, once again.

Hi Prue, While I'm not as dedicated as I could be - meditation and mindfulness are in my plan.

Oh, prue, my heart goes out to all of you. This is the biggest challenge we face as parents, wanting desperately to set things right for our children. IтАЩll pray that your family finds strength in the love you share and for a positive resolution; be that his condition remains stable or that a new treatment becomes available.

Thank you, Ms. Writer. Stable is all that we can hope for and if that is all, we shall honestly feel blessed. What lovely kindness from everyone.

Prue it is heartbreaking to hear this news of your son. It's great you were able to talk to your psychologist and he gave you suggestions to anchor more deeply. Given this situation, I don't think you could say your emotional spectrum was skewed. You're human, this is huge. Anyone would be off kilter but going to talk to someone demonstrates emotional health I'd say.

Thinking of you during this very difficult timeтЭд

To also carry and embody our Buddha nature wherever we go. As we engage in both pleasurable and unpleasurable daily tasks in equanimity. To be engaged but not entangled. That's our vow. And we can. With unselfish performance of duty, unwavering rectitude and unlimited forgiveness. ЁЯл╢
