It's fascinating how the brain slowly adapts to what is at hand or what we are putting in it. I was not familiar with the term learned helplessness until I read your article. I can see how in the moment (years) of stressful caregiving this would be a natural progression. Awareness is gold so thank you for bringing all this stuff to our attention Janice so that when/if it happens we are hopefully not as blindsided.
