First, thank you for subscribing to the newsletter. I hope you enjoy reading the articles as much as I enjoy writing them.
Second, I wish you a Happy New Year. One filled with joy and dreams that come true.
Finally, I’d like your thoughts about two topics. The first asks your opinion about a new section of the newsletter I want to start. It would be entitled Aging Well for Caregivers. The second asks what subjects you would like to see discussed in future articles.
New Section
Most people are caregivers for someone - at some time: children, parents, spouses, or even pets. Loved ones experience disabilities, grow old, and have chronic or terminal diseases which they need help managing.
As a counselor, I worked with clients regarding grief, stress, and loss. But, it wasn’t until I took care of my husband during his struggle with dementia and death, and then my struggle to find myself afterward, that I understood the toll caretaking takes on a person’s mental and physical health.
Much of the literature focuses on the patient but less on how to care for oneself - the caregiver. This newsletter section will look at ways to help navigate this circumstance and age well.
Let me know if this interests you by taking the brief survey below.
Hot Topics
What would you like to read about in the 2023 newsletter - more personal stories, words of wisdom, specific topics, or something else?
Best wishes, and be a part of what comes next.
Thanks!!!
I like your words of wisdom, which usually refer to your experiences. I can relate to them
Surprise me, Janice. Whatever you have to say will interest me. I am not a caregiver now, but I could be at any time. Life has a funny way of handing us challenges when we least expect them. As far as my own aging goes, I pick up all kinds of useful thoughts from the Aging Well News. Every little insight helps.
