New Year's Resolutions for Aging Well
Do They Make a Difference?
Pop-up discussions are an opportunity to explore aging well more deeply. As we grow older, sharing ideas and information with others becomes increasingly important. They give us a chance to voice our ideas and concerns.
If you read the newsletter, I assume that, like me, you’re interested in staying healthy and enjoying the rest of your life to the fullest. However, experience tells me it’s not that easy.
Ready or not, 2026 is almost here. I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, as such. They last about two weeks, and poof.
However, I do like the idea of setting intentions - guiding principles for who I want to be and how I want to act, live, and show up in the world. They focus on my mindset rather than on specific outcomes.
My intentions for 2026 include the following.
Focusing on my purpose: making healthy choices, being there for family and friends, and promoting well-being.
Committing to mindfulness and compassion.
Practicing gratitude and forgiveness.
Writing a compelling newsletter about aging well.
So I’m wondering: do you make New Year's Resolutions or have intentions for 2026? If so, would you be willing to share a few of them?

My main intention for 2026 is to prioritize my creative life. I have a novel to finish, short-ish essays to write, art to make. Everything else (checking email, etc.) must come after the good stuff...but...I struggle with procrastination and often put off the good stuff (fear of failure, perfectionism, etc.). Would love to check in once in a while (accountability is good for me...)
