Congratulation, Janice! You made it through Christmas. And you did it so well! I am proud of you. This learning to cope is never-ending. You are an inspiration to us all. You and your story-telling cat.
So true that while Christmas won't be what it was for many years it can still be good. And I love Bailey's suggestion that honoring the memory of our loved ones is a wonderful way to remember them and make them a part of our holiday.
Reading this post made me think about our Christmas family get togethers at my late Mother's home. I was her caregiver for the last three years of her life. It is serendipitous that I included in my latest newsletter a quote from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross the Swiss-American psychiatrist, author, and pioneer in the field of palliative care and grief counseling. For me acceptance is the key. Writing poetry is my way of trying to promote forgiveness in others and to raise awareness. Here is the last stanza of my new poem, (my style is simplistic, :)
I'm glad it was better for you. Rough one for me. Glad the whole thing is almost over.

Hi Bailey. What a wise cat you are. Your doing a great job of looking after your Mom.

Allow me to live a meaningful life,
Guide me through my trials and strife,
Give me faith so that my doubts decrease,
Fill my life with love and peace.
