One of my most demanding - but also most rewarding - jobs was working for a police department and having the opportunity to develop a counseling program for school children. What was your most rewarding job?
Wow! You are courageous! Showing up despite the odds. Your vision and service was empowering you.
I was once a bike messenger in NYC. Serving multiple companies at the same time, trying to defy what's physically possible through delivering packages.
Recently, I have been demanding of myself, consistent and persistent effort towards the attainment of my desire.
What a beautiful share Janice - such a gift being exchanged and passed back and forth between you AND the youth. I of course have to suggest it was all "Perfectly on Time" and a true heart and soul experience that you now get to cherish as part of your own "story"! Well done :-)
Hi Marilyn, the PD experience changed my life, and I understood things in ways I never would have otherwise - about culture, poverty, different lifestyles, and so many other things.
This was so intriguing for me to read. I almost wish there was more.
In my adult lifetime I've seen the insides of more police stations, prisons, counseling sessions, and drug rehab facilities than I'd care to count. You learn a LOT when you've got family members who struggle with normal life.
I'd just like to say the work you did was IMPORTANT. Society needs more of what you had a hand in creating for those kids. Thank you for sharing this.
Loved reading about this experience. What a great job to connect with community and those at risk. I've not had a rewarding job—lucrative, fast-paced, and exciting, yes—haven't cashed in the rewarding side, yet. Thank you for a great share.
Patti, It was an amazing experience in all regards, and I hope that the program made a difference in the community at the time. It certainly made a difference in me.
I love hearing about this side of you Janice. It shows great strength of character that a) you showed up for this job and b)they gave you 3 months and you created such a successful program it lasted 10 years. Imagine the lives it changed!
My most rewarding job is meeting one on one with a client seeking mentorship to create changes in their life to feel better. I get to use most of my skills in that situation, likewise teaching a class.
Equally rewarding is working with the children in our community to help with their neuromuscular skeletal health to ensure optimum growth and development.
Really enjoyed this true to life story Janice you probably made a huge impact on the thinking of children and families during those 10 years. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! A bike courier in NYC. That’s brave, I’m guessing it’s a little crazy there🙂 Well done!

Hi Kristi, Thank you so much. It truly was an amazing experience.
You planted good seeds in those kids. Your actions are now rippling out
Wow -- that was a job with real purpose that made a difference. What an achievement!
I would never in my wildest dreams have thought that was in my future.
Real purpose 👏

I'm sure you made a difference. I know you make one here, on Substack - I can only imagine how you rocked the community.
Ah Patti, Thank you so much.

Hi Donna, All of those "jobs" must give you a great sense of satisfaction. The work with children must be fascinating.

Hi Rita, I hope so - they surely impacted me.
