I'm so glad you referenced Ramona's column because TBH, I think she not only nailed ageing, but nailed ageism as well. I was inspired by her fresh attitude.
A bit of a dichotomy for me, Janice. I feel like my head is still strong - good communication, strong language ability, logic, critical thinking, etc. But the head is attached to a body that is giving out and in pain. So I find myself shying away from the physical activities and focusing on the mental. Not necessarily the best decision, I know. Thanks for always making me reconsider.
I know what you mean about the dichotomy. My mind says "yes, yes, yes," and my body says "I don't think so." So, I have to rethink my decisions based on this new reality. My physical activities include walking - but mostly on flat surfaces, using the stair steps even though my knees complain, and stretching.
I copied your questions, and answered them. This led to a morning of progress, and my own question:
What is the pivotal log in this JAM, that blocks my progress???
I am at (age 64) the beginning of packup/deep declutter, as I will sell my home next year - but after 27 years here, and without my husband, this is overwhelming, partly because I cannot do it NOW. I am a Now Gal, and have trouble with long complicated projects. Decision fatigue is my bane, because the deadline is so misty and far away, but I need to progress.
In my journey since his death in Feb 2021 - he was a hoarder of metal junk and hobby supplies - I have learned there is always a “pivotal log”, but I have trouble remembering that.
Now, having used your list to see that I am on exactly the right track, for the next year, I need to actively seek out the pivotal logs in each area of my endeavour. Thank you as always!
Good questions to ponder. I'll read Ramona's link when I have time. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm always looking for more columns that talk about aging.
I'm curious. We have to put our newsletter(s) into two categories. I just looked today to see what I put mine under when I started it. I used culture and philosophy. What do you have yours categorized under? Maybe I need to revisit this differently.
Life is good; however, approaching my 86th birthday seemed like a good time to reevaluate what I want for the future and how to move forward.

HI Prue, I totally agree!
Great topic! We forget that change and transformation are part of our lives until that final transformation. Thanks, Janice!
Always like reading in insight on aging, seems like you are doing pretty darn well for such a big change.
Thanks Kathy. I hadn't figured on my physical body complaining so much, though.

JANICE! This has been so helpful to me, today.

Health and Wellness and Education.
Thanks, good choices.
I'd like to see one for personal development, guess I should check on that.
There isn't one for personal development, I wanted that to begin with. I really don't know where I fit in the choices given.
I didn't think there was a category like that.
There isn’t one.
