I had just shut down my computer and was calling it a day when I got a notification that you just published something. My own intuition told me, ‘Wait, don’t go. Read this.’
I’m so glad I did.
Of course because my lower level ego self was pleased to see you referencing something I had written (thank you so much Janice!!), but more importantly because right NOW I need the message you wrote about.
Listening and following our inner guide, it’s so easy to forget or to simply turn away. Thank you for your wise words that have uplifted me when I’m feeling a bit torn. Thank you for the inspiration that is going to carry me through my weekend.
I think it takes a village of wisdom seekers to remind each other that we can follow our heart and soul to arrive in the very best place.
HI Donna, I don't listen - don't trust - my inner guide nearly enough. It's there all the time and very patient with me. Yet, I tend to ignore it far too often. I agree with you about the village of wisdom seekers.
Yes, Janice, I AM the director of my own life. I like to be the director for other people's lives as well... I have to watch myself all the time and mind my own business! I loved this quote, "“It’s your life. Stop waiting for someone else to show up with the key.” I couldn't agree more!
It took me a very long time to figure that one out. You bring up an important point. "I like to be the director for other people's lives." Guess if I want to be my own director, they have the right to be their own, as well.
I'm not sure I've perfected the art of directing yet. I'm still not quite able to say no to those I care about. Thus, I get tired and 'my' plans get diverted, delayed, whatever.
But one day I may be partner-less, my family and grandson will be otherwise occupied and I may have lost valuable and loved friends and so I need to practice that art of direction. Become a conductor rather than one who is being conducted. Thank you for a timely post.
Hi Prue, That, in a nutshell, was my story. Until 3 years ago, I was the conducted one and sorely out of shape in conducting. I haven't perfected being the director by a long shot, but at least the goal is on my radar.
Go Janice! Brilliant article and a reminder to us all to give ourselves permission to be uniquely us

I particularly like “Instead of accepting what is - experiment with solutions.” That resonated with me today. Thanks for sharing this inspiration!
Hi Stephen, That thought “Instead of accepting what is - experiment with solutions” made a difference for me.

It's why I am so inspired by your thoughts and actions.
Janice, I'm newer to your Substack and don't know your full story but want to share my encouragement and vote of confidence.
Hi Bruce, thanks so much. In a nutshell, after being married for sixty years, my husband died and I am in the process of making a new life for myself.
I think I'm the director of my own life, but first, let me ask my wife to be sure! Thanks for your post!
LOL!!!
Good plan🫶 now to apply daily ✌️
Hi, That is the challenge.
