Are you enjoying the holidays—or will you be glad when they're over?

I'm here and now, prepared for what is to come and relishing the moment. Loving how the sun is on an angle and only exposes itself for a while. Been following g its rhythms, mostly in bed by 6 pm🙏

Great reporting, Janice - accurate and interesting. This is not the first time storms have ravaged our shores here in Santa Cruz, nor will it be the last. The monumental catastrophes happening around the world, seem to diminish our damages. We will survive and so will the wharf. It is an iconic landmark, and the people will pay to have it repaired and retrofitted. Thanks for the time you spent telling our story.

Sounds lovely despite the destruction. We were able to light Chanukah candles via FT with our kids across country. That was nice. 😊

We are enjoying quiet holidays. Our son was able to join us from Seattle for 5 days so we celebrated early with him. We are in Pacific Grove near Lover's Point and have been out daily to appreciate the amazing high waves the storms generated and the surfers who choose our quieter corner of the world to brave the ocean. On our long walk in the sunshine on Thursday down to the gazebo near one end of Asilomar beach around the coast past the municipal golf course and Point Pinos lighthouse back to Lover's Point we saw herons, egrets, many otters and sea lions. I am so grateful for the peace and beauty. Have a wonderful new year Janice and may peace be with you.

Hi Jan, Pacific Grove, Asilomar, and Lover's Point are some of my favorite places to visit. I have been there many times. It is the most beautiful place I know of, and every once in a while, I see deer there, which always makes my day. You, too, have a wonderful new year.

Hi, We were in Pacific Grove today and drove by Lover's Point and Asilomar. It was a gorgeous day, but too crowded to stop. We did walk from the Monterey Wharf to Cannery Row. It is a most beautiful place.

I’m working on counting my blessings, looking for the good, being grateful. I miss the “chaos” or excitement of Christmas as I age. Our celebration is getting smaller — as grandchildren are older living in California. But “the reason for the season” is definitely becoming clearer in my life. 😊 Wishing you a happy 2025, Janice.

It is both humbling and relieving to experience the powerful demonstration of nature. Peace, growth and resilience be with us all. 🙏

That is so very true. As you said, it was both humbling and relieving to experience that powerful demonstration of nature on the one hand, coupled with the peace it offered on the other. It was very inspiring.
